February Review
One of my friends, Jesse the owner of Trash Panda, always does a month recap. I enjoy reading them and seeing what is going on at his company and I thought some of you might like something similar for Foundation. So here is a recap of some of the big things going on behind the scenes and my thoughts on them from the month of February!
Implementing E.O.S. (Entrepreneurial Operating System)
One of the biggest projects that has been going on behind the scenes since December is the implementation of E.O.S. into our business. February was a big month for us as it was the official company wide launch of the system. Since December, our leadership team has been following this structure and absolutely loved it. Now that we have some experience under our belt with it and ensured it was what we want for our entire business, we officially have launched it in both the media and operations departments.
Essentially E.O.S. offers structure to how we set goals, track metrics, run meetings, and ensures everyone is on board with our clearly defined vision. It has helped me as a leader a TON over the past few months and watching our team get excited and dive into it during February was awesome. I originally hated the idea of structure and regular meetings as I felt like it would throttle creativity. Instead, with a team of our size, the lack of structure was throttling growth. People didn’t have clear objectives or a good picture of where Foundation was headed so everyone was pulling in different directions. E.O.S. has helped us all row in the same direction and we are really building some momentum!
Building Out Personalities
If you have ever talked to me about the future of Foundation, you have probably heard me mention how I don’t want to be in my 50s and having to put peanut butter on my hand to throw disc golf discs for a video. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love making the content we make, but if I wait too long to start replacing myself and other key personalities then the business will suffer when the inevitable time comes.
If you go back a few years, the only personalities that were consistently in front of the camera were myself and Trevor. If you look at the business today, there is myself, Trevor, Konner, Silas, and Tyler. That is intentional. The goal here is to continue to build out the personality team so that as our business and responsibilities grow, the amount of and quality of content can remain or even grow with it!
So why is this a February highlight? Great question.
The second best performing video in February was a match between Silas and Tyler. Genuinely I think it is one of the funniest and most entertaining videos we have ever put out. This was a big moment for me because I could see the vision coming to life. People are starting to not care and sometimes even prefer if I am not in a video. This is great because it frees me up to not have to be in every video! Same for Trevor. A few years ago it would not be possible to take us out of videos and expect good performance on the analytics. Now if the concept is strong, we know the personalities are established enough to carry it regardless of who is available!
Low Hanging Fruit
Sometimes in business you have an “Aha” moment where you can basically just turn on a switch and start making more money. We had one of those in February.
For years we have ran our Patreon which we refer to as the Hyzer Club. We put out a weekly bonus podcast, monthly exclusive video, behind the scenes content, etc.
Since launching our Patreon, YouTube has created this thing called “members” which functions very similarly but lives on YouTube instead. We never set it up because we have a Patreon and didn’t want to give up what we had built there.
This past month I finally had the realization that both could exist together and create 0 more work on our team. So now you can join the Hyzer Club at the $5 a month tier on either Patreon or on YouTube. The only change on our end is that we have to upload the content we are already creating to both platforms. This basically added 5 minutes of work per month and has already grown to 25 members without us even pushing it!
Why did it take me this long to figure that out?
Closing Thoughts
February was a great month and 2026 is off to our best start yet. I can’t help but feel like this is due to the focused and intentional work I have been able to do ON the business instead of just IN the business. That is only possible by having a team of incredible people that I trust. Now that we are dialed in and building momentum, I think something great is on the horizon!
